The best way to improve your English is to spend time in conversation with native speakers. The New Headway book helps you with that, as each unit contains a conversation with a teacher and a conversation with a student. Each unit is separated into listening and writing sections. The listening section is easy to listen to, while the writing section is more challenging.
Each listening section is followed by a tapescript, which provides a summary of the sentence. The student can choose to listen to the sentence again, to get a better understanding of the meaning. The student can also use the tapescript to go back to the previous sentence.
